Inspection Process

All fees are to be paid before the time of inspection. I take payment via PayPal, Credit Card, Check, or Cash.

Once you select an RV Inspection, you will receive an email from Scribeware. This email will provide a username and login so you can digitally sign the Inspection contract. Your contract will contain the agreed-upon inspection, samples, and location of the inspections. The pay no later than the date will also be spelled out on the contract.

To complete a full inspection, your RV will need to be hooked up to power, water, and sewer. If the RV is not fully hooked up, those systems that can’t be inspected will be marked as not checked. Remember that it can take an RV refrigerator up to 12 hours to reach working temperatures.

Both the exterior and interior should be cleared and ready to be examined. Your inspector will be looking in, under, and behind cabinets and drawers, so please don’t block that access. The microwave and oven should be empty. Be sure to secure any valuables or breakables. Ensure that slide areas are clear as those will be tested as well.

I do not drive the RV as part of the inspection. A motorized RV will need to be started to verify it starts and check the instrument cluster for normal operation. If oil samples are taken, the engine and transmission will need to come up to operating temperature. I prefer the seller and/or seller’s representative be present to start the RV for this part of the inspection.

I am located west of Twin Cities, Minnesota, and will travel 50 miles without an additional charge. Anything outside that 50 mile area I will charge for mileage and tolls with a charge of .65 cents a mile to destination outside the service area.

It usually takes me 6-9 hours to inspect a large Class A, Super C, or Bus Conversation, 5-6 hours for Class C and B coaches, and 4-6 hours for towed RVs.

I will post your inspection online within 24-48 hours after the end of the inspection. The report can be accessed via the Scribeware website.

Fluid Samples, Oil, and Coolant are taken and mailed to a laboratory. The reports are usually available in 5 to 7 working days, depending on the US Mail system that gets the sample to the lab. The report will be emailed to you in PDF format.

**An important thing to note is that if the inspection occurs during the winter time and the RV is winterized then RV Doctor, LLC. is not responsible for re-winterizing the RV. Therefore re-winterizing will need to be negotiated between the buyer and seller. Even if offered additional money to do it would violate the NRVIA Standards of Practice, whereas once a vehicle is inspected, the inspector can not perform service on that RV for up to one year from the date of inspection.
