Introduction to RV Control Solutions
Mobile repair of RV-C display and control systems manufactured by Firefly, PCI, Silverleaf, and Winnebago as a Master RV Technician. Many RV vendors monitor and control RV systems using the RV-C control standard. RV-C is a communications protocol based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus used in automobiles. This standard uses a communications protocol based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus, enabling house and chassis components in recreational vehicles to communicate. RV-C facilitates control, coordination, and diagnostics across a multi-vendor environment.

American Technology Components (ATC)
American Technology Components (ATC) acquired KIB Electronics on April 15, 2019, with both companies being based in Elkhart, Indiana. Heartland, beginning with 2017 models, introduced a system with a Convenience Control Panel and several other point-of-use switch panels throughout the coach. In 2020 models, that panel was replaced with a tablet. That control panel has a Bluetooth interface that lets you operate the controls from a smartphone or personal tablet.
Newmar began transitioning from the Silverleaf control system to the ATC system on its 2025 model coaches. The control system on my 2026 Newmar Freedom Aire appears to be based on the KiB Control Panel.
ATC uses a simple 3-wire trunk cable called a V-bus. It connects the touchscreen tablet and switches to the control boards. This allows components to send messages and receive feedback.
ATC does not provide external documentation for its system. Control issues require help from the coach manufacturer or an authorized service center. They must have access to ATC technical support and replacement modules. This can limit repairs, so mobile technicians cannot fix a failed system.
Firefly Intergrations
On September 4, 2025, I received training from Firefly Integrations LLC at the RVTI campus to complete my RVIA Level 3 – Electronics certification towards my RVIA Master Certification.
The Firefly system can be found on Airstream, Brinkley, Grech, Entegra Coach, Midwest Automotive Design, Roadtrek, Triple E (Leisure Travel Vans), and many other RV companies.
Unlike the ATC system and its components, which have no externally facing technical information, Firefly trains RV technicians and makes technical information available on its website. The hardware modules have LED indicators that assist in diagnosing control system issues.

The Precision Circuits Inc. (PCI) controller and display are used on the Winnebago Ekko Class C Motorhome.

Silverleaf, which uses a low-voltage RV-C (CAN bus) network. Instead of traditional wiring, components connect via a 4-wire data cable (+12V, Ground, Data+, Data-) daisy-chained to decentralized node modules.

Winnebago Connect
Winnebago introduced its new Connect system on the 2025 View 24R, Navion 24T, and View 24T Class C Motorhomes. This new system offers remote connectivity and data plans that provide Wi-Fi internet access.
