This page describes the RV inspection process, which includes agreements and payment, requirements for a successful inspection, and the inspection report.
Agreements and Payment
Once you select an RV Inspection, you will receive an email from Scribeware with the agreements. This email will provide a username and login so you can digitally sign the Inspection contracts. Your contract will contain the agreed-upon inspection, samples, and location of the inspections. Please make the payment at least 24 hours before the RV inspection.
Pay all fees before the time of inspection. I take payment via PayPal, Credit Card, Check, or Cash.
Requirements for Successful Inspection
To have a complete RV inspection, hook the RV to AC power, water, and sewer. Those systems cannot be thoroughly tested if the RV does not have full hookups. The final report will mark these systems as not having been inspected. Since the RV refrigerator takes up to 12 hours to reach working temperatures, plug in the RV the previous day and start the fridge.
Clear both the exterior and interior before the inspection. Your inspector will look in, under, and behind cabinets and drawers, so please don’t block that access. The microwave and oven should be empty. Be sure to secure any valuables or breakables. Clear the slideout areas, as they will be tested.
I do not drive the RV as part of the inspection. A motorized RV will need to be started to verify it starts and check the instrument cluster for regular operation. The engine and transmission must reach operating temperature if oil samples are taken.
I am located west of Twin Cities, Minnesota, and will travel 200 miles.
It usually takes me 6-9 hours to inspect a large Class A, Super C, or Bus Conversation, 5-6 hours for Class C and B coaches, and 4-6 hours for towed RVs.
RV Inspection Report
I will post your inspection online within 24-48 hours after the end of the inspection. The RV inspection report can be accessed via the Scribeware report link, which will be emailed.
Fluid Samples, Oil, and Coolant are taken and mailed to a laboratory. The reports are usually available in 5 to 7 working days, depending on the US Mail system that gets the sample to the lab.
**Please note that if the inspection occurs during the winter time and the RV is winterized, RV Doctor, LLC. is not responsible for re-winterizing the RV. The buyer and seller need to negotiate re-winterization. Even if offered additional money to do it would violate the NRVIA Standards of Practice. However, after inspecting a vehicle, the inspector can not perform service on that RV for up to one year from the inspection date.
